ASKO

amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta)

ASKO is an immersive experience and a coming together – combining emotional and intellectual knowledge, the heartbeat and sound of thought travelling through space that teaches us how to listen to the energies and forces that continually create nêhiyawak worlds.

nêhiyaw and Scottish/Irish artist Marek Tyler, an in-demand drummer from indie rock projects and Polaris short-listed and Juno nominated indie band, nêhiyawak, brings this beautiful new storied project around the drum and rattle, created with many collaborators and advisors. ASKO includes the kinetics of pow-wow dancers following the heartbeat of the big drum and embraces the choreography of prairie chickens telling the stories of the grasslands.

ASKO’s new album is electronic-forward and the lead singer is percussion. Its sonics follow the movements, sounds and rhythm of his kin’s nêhiyaw lives, crossing cultures and travel. The special album launch event will move you emotionally, spiritually and physically.
